MISSED CONNECTION: I met you at SLC at 12AM on a weekday while I was heading home. You stopped me and asked for help. I agreed to help and asked what you wanted. You asked me for $20 and that you'll give me your number so you would pay me back. I didn't want to give money to a stranger but since you looked and pleaded to me like you really needed it, it felt like the right thing to do. You thanked me and even hugged me and told me I was your saviour. Well the next day when I called you, you picked up and laughed at me and hung up. I trusted you and it's a shame that you had to act that low just to steal.

I learned my lesson. But I just hate that people like you exist still. Taking advantage of innocent students who are willing to help others. To you, the African male, I hope you spent that $20 well.

  2. It's sad to see nice people get fucked over. OP don't stop helping people just because one guy turned out to be a douche bag. Also if you really need that money, I could pay you on behalf of that guy.

  3. Post his number OP. Let the revenge begin!

    2. To 4 and 4a. This is so wrong. She said African and not Nigerian. And how is she so sure the person is African?? Did she ask?

    3. Lol 4b, you know what she meant. And "Nigerian Scam" is basically just a colloquialism like Canadian Bacon or French Fries. They don't actually have to be from said places to be said things. I.e. She was scammed (bizarrely) by an African (presumably Black) person, it brings forth the image of her being scammed by one of those "Nigerian" ponzi-ish scheme e-mails.

Nothing more nothing less, don't be so sensitive.

  9. Woww.. This sucks O.P. PROPS to you for helping out people though and fuck this guy. We are all under debt so its not funny to take away people's hard earned money.

  10. I would have done the same. Got damn piece of shit fucker.

Kind of sketchy that he actually gave you his REAL number though.

  11. Post their number... wont be so funny to them anymore!

  12. Yeah OP post their number or it didn't happen.
I feel incredibly bad for you, and hope you still are willing to be kind to people in the future, but It's hard to see why someone would run this scam while giving you their real number; but post it OP and let OMGUW do the rest.

Post or I'm calling shenanigans on this.

  13. Next time take his watcard as collateral.

  14. Aw, I'm sorry this happened. Next time someone asks you for money, just say you don't have any on you.

  15. That is really unfortunate. Don't sink to their level and post their phone number. Also, what kind of idiot gives a real number if they're just going to steal the money?

    ReplyDelete
  16. OP here, as much as I want to post his number, it is illegal to give a number to harass. Thank you for your concerns but I'm not too worried about the money, :)

    1. Post it!! It's not like they'll report you. They practically stole your money.

  17. take the # to campus police, they will retrieve your $$

    1. Actually best plan. It'll keep him from doing it to other people in the future too.

    2. Umm... no they won't. Police in Canada aren't all-powerful. The guy may be an asshole but he didn't commit a crime and they have no way to track him.

OP, I guess you'll remember this as a lesson. Don't give strangers money.

  18. Last 4 digits, OP. I have a feeling this is an on-going scam and the S.O.B. likes it when the victims call and he gets to laugh at them. I also think he probably gives you the real number in case you decide to dial him on the spot (best lies are those with an element of truth, after all)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Something about this whole thing doesn't seem to add up. Why give your real number?

Give us a first name or initials at least OP!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Describe him, please!!! I might know who he is! I swear i'll get your money back if i know who he is. i'm 'friends' with the majority of black guys on campus.

  21. guess stereotypes exist for a reason huh

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Of course they do. If we apply all stereotypes in this life, all blacks would hold their noses while passing by whites.
I don't believe that. Noone should. we are past this streotype stage. I feel like your parents are wasting money educating you

  22. OP sorry to hear this, but don't lose faith in humanity. This favor will be returned to you one day when you least expect it.
@21 I think we should avoid making these stereotypes. There are billion of black people who are always on the giving end and are the most decent and nicest people ever. Exceptions exist everywhere in every race!

  23. maybe it wasn't his real number

  24. of course it was a black guy
