Typically, when somebody says that someone is "X looking " they mean generally speaking. Of course there are non Arab Muslims and non Muslim arabs. Use your common sense. You can be non Muslim and still be "Muslim looking" and vice versa-- who cares. It's just broad description. Not worth fussing over, imo.
What makes him look like a Muslim to you OP? What the fuck is wrong with you? What the fuck is wrong with this world? I understand you are simply complimenting a guy that you found attractive, but COME ON… "muslim looking guy"??? Get yourself educated OP.
Ok ok, muslim is a religion not an ethnicity but the same kind of logic can be applied to a Canadian. What does a Canadian look like? If you say a Canadian looks caucasian then you would make a lot of people very angry. In any case, Op's post wasn't generally offensive and considering it's an "MC", they obviously like whatever they thought a muslim might look like.
And to #5, somehow you using clear obscenities in a negative connotation is okay? And you overgeneralizing as if everyone has racial intolerance and asking "what the fuck is wrong with this world" is okay? We all live life together, and you losing your cool because of a sincere and accidental political incorrectness makes me sick.
5b - Not sure if you're joking, but since when are white people a minority in Canada? Even Toronto, one of the most multicultural cities in the world, is only 50% minorities. Get out of major urban centres and that number drops into single digits.
Wow, nerds, calm down. I'm a brown "Muslim looking guy" and I knew exactly what she meant by her statement. I think it was a great description, so keep using it OP. Screw these butt hurt nerds and their politically correct agendas. YEAH!
If by "we" you mean all the butt hurt nerds who deemed it offensive and worthy of taking objection to, then yes, you are butt hurt nerds. Stop being a butt hurt nerd you butt hurt nerd.
He looked kind of Persian/Mediterranean, white with slightly tan complexion as opposed to dark/south asian, but I guess it wasn't the correct way to word it, I'm sorry - OP
People are overreacting here; don't worry about it. You used the description genuinely and with sincerity and if people can't wrap their heads around that then there is no way everyone can get along.
As a non-"muslim looking" girl, I wouldn't strive to go out with a "muslim looking guy" but if I really liked someone who did look like whatever that looks like, I guess I would. -not OP
The fuck is a "muslim-looking guy"

DeleteThick dark hair, trimmed beard, olive skin... you know, generally Arab looking.. are you offended?
ReplyDeleteAs an arab who isn't muslim... yes.
DeleteI'm a muslim, but I'm not Arab (therefore, not Arab-looking). Am I still muslim-looking though?

DeleteClearly, caucasian is a minority in canada now. The majority is asian, or as the US puts it "Asians are Canadas Mexicans"
