MISSED CONNECTION: To the guy who asked me our a couple weeks back: I had an amazing time on our date but I am immensely scared that you have changed your mind. I realize that from the time you started noticing me to now, I have gained quite a bit of weight. I have been trying to recover from an eating disorder and now I feel so unattractive. I hate myself and can't possibly understand why you'd be interested in me.

  1. Because of your personality?

  2. i think you need to get that treated.
also, guys don't care as much as you'd think about weight when they look at a girl. some guys do, but a lot don't really care about that.

  3. First of all, congratulations on your recovery, it’s really courageous to try to become healthy even when it’s WAY outside of your comfort zone.
Secondly, you need to start seeing things realistically. You're not just an object that you must perfect for people to admire. Your opinions, thoughts, actions and personality make you the person you are, not your appearance. Think about people who have made a positive impact on your life; friends, family, etc… I can guarantee you not all of them have your definition of a perfect body, but they are still people that you admire as human beings.
Likewise, if you have a connection with this guy, I can probably assure you that it isn’t because of your weight. Was it his body that made the date special for you, or was it the conversation/good times had together? He most likely feels the same way about you.
Even as far as attractiveness is concerned, most people look the best and thrive at their natural body weight. Someone who is healthy and very confident about their appearance is much more attractive than someone who is sick with an eating disorder and hates themself.
What I’m trying to say is that this guy is most likely still attracted to you even though you have gained weight (if he even noticed you have), because a number on the scale does not define your attractiveness and your connection with him.
